Palestinian Gets Injured in Jalud Village Clash in West Bank Attack

(MENAFN) One Palestinian was injured on Monday after confrontations erupted in the village of Jalud in the northern West Bank, where Israeli settlers reportedly carried out an attack under the protection of Israeli forces, according to reports.

Local and medical sources said settlers targeted residents in the village, located south of Nablus, using stones and physical assaults, which led to wider clashes involving dozens of Palestinians. Witnesses said Israeli military units were deployed in the area during the incident to secure the settlers.

Medical personnel confirmed that one Palestinian man was beaten during the confrontation and was later transferred to hospital for treatment.

The violence comes amid broader tensions in the occupied West Bank, where settlement expansion and frequent clashes have continued. According to figures cited by reports, around 750,000 Israeli settlers live in 141 settlements and 224 outposts across the territory, including roughly 250,000 in 15 settlements in occupied East Jerusalem.

Since the outbreak of the Gaza war on October 8, 2023, Palestinian sources say Israeli military operations and settler-related violence in the West Bank have resulted in at least 1,154 Palestinian deaths, around 11,750 injuries, and nearly 22,000 arrests.

The reported incidents also include home demolitions, property destruction, displacement of residents, and ongoing expansion of settlements in both the West Bank and East Jerusalem—areas considered occupied territory under United Nations designations.

Palestinian officials and observers warn that these developments could facilitate eventual annexation of the West Bank by Israel, a move they say would undermine prospects for a two-state solution envisioned in UN resolutions.
